FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

Below are some answers to my most common customer questions!  If you don’t see your question here, email me and I'll get back to you asap!

Q: How soon will my order ship?

A: Most items in my shop are made-to-order.  Unless they are specified as ready-to-ship, you can assume it is not.  That said, please allow up to two weeks for your order to be filled.  I am only one person and orders are filled as quickly as I can manage, in the order they are received.  If you need something quickly, you can always reach out and ask!  If I'm not too busy, I just might be able to expedite your order for you☺️

Q: What is your return policy?  Can I make an exchange?

A: Please refer to my refund policy page

Q: Where can I shop in person for MC&W jewelry & accessories?

A: We have a selection of shops that carry our jewelry!  To find the nearest location, check our Stockists page.

Q: Do you sell wholesale?

A: Yes! I have a wholesale only store set up on Faire.com here!

Q: Who produces the jewelry sold here and in what country is it made?

A: This is a one-woman show!  I, Johanna Wood, design, hand assemble and finish each piece myself, in my home studio in Jersey City, NJ.  Some jewelry components have to be produced by other manufacturers, and there are certain things (e.g. mold-making and casting metal) that I don't have the capabilities for.  But I make every effort to source locally and purchase as much of my materials, tools and packaging from other independent suppliers within the USA!

Q: How do I care for my new jewelry?

A: Many items now each come with care instructions.  If you have questions about specific items (e.g. can photo jewelry get wet?) before you purchase them, please email me and I will let you know!  If you did not receive care instructions with your order, this is most likely because your item has been coated with a sealant and will not require any special care.

FOR CASTINGS AND ENGRAVINGS: All castings and engravings are either 100% sterling silver, 100% copper, 100% bronze, 100% brass, or a mix of these metals, depending on which option you chose. All of these metals are safe to wear every day. In fact, wearing silver jewelry often will lessen the need for it to be polished. Your Metal Cloth & Wood jewelry is also safe to wear in the shower (with the exception of photo jewelry, which should be kept away from water to protect the paper photo inside)  That said, all of these metals are susceptible to tarnishing over time.  Some people like the dark patina that develops, but if you ever want to brighten up your Metal Cloth & Wood jewelry, the polishing pad that was included with your order is a great way to shine up your engraved or cast pieces.  In the event that you have misplaced the polishing pad, any polishing cloth intended for jewelry will do!  Just make sure to hold the polishing cloth flat against a hard surface and then rub the piece gently over it.  For necklace and bracelet chains, you can also use the pad or a cloth for polishing—or you can use steel wool to get it super shiny.  I don't advise using steel wool on the castings and engravings, however, as this may disturb the recessed areas that are intended to be darker.

FOR BRASS STAMPINGS & BOXES: If your piece is lightweight and hollow on the reverse side (as opposed to flat) or your piece is a brass box, then it has been made from a stamping.  All stampings are made from solid 100% brass (not including any pins or posts or other added components) which has been carefully hand polished to achieve certain finishes.  Because or this, I have coated the exterior of each piece with an eco-friendly sealant —this should protect it from tarnishing.  These pieces should not need to be polished.  However, with heavy use, this coating could be worn down over time.  If this is the case, you can use a polishing cloth or pad to brighten any darkened areas, using the technique mentioned above.

Q: Is shipping included in the price—or is it extra?

A: Domestic shipping is free for all orders over $35.  Regular shipping rates apply on orders below $35 or orders that are outside of the United States.

Q: Do you ship internationally?

A: Yes! But please be aware that because this shop is located in the USA, if you are placing an international order, the following *may* apply to you:

  1. Additional fees may be charged by *your country* in the form of customs fees &/or taxes when your order arrives in your country. YOU WILL BE RESPONSIBLE for these additional fees/taxes and they could be significant. If this will be an issue for you and you think you may need to cancel your order, please check with your local postal service asap to ask about any additional fees that you may be expected to pay upon receipt of this jewelry/accessory order from the USA. Please note that once your item has shipped, I won’t be able to cancel the sale and issue a refund until the item is returned to me. And I won't be able to reimburse you for these fees which I have no control over and which are subject to change at any given time.
  2. Please also note when placing an international order, unless you purchase UPS shipping, you will need to allow for extra time to receive your order. Some countries may take *up to 4 weeks or even longer* to clear your order through customs before delivering it to you. Additionally, some countries may currently be experiencing delivery issues due to natural disasters or conflicts or postal strikes that may even further delay receiving your order. For this reason, I can’t always guarantee specific delivery dates to locations outside of the USA. Once your order leaves the USA, there may not be much I can assist you with, if there is a delay or issue with shipping, but I will of course provide you with all of the tracking information that you need or any additional information should your local postal service request any.
