These simple yet distinctive giraffe weevil insect earrings are the perfect way to make a statement. The movement of the earrings, as they dance above your shoulders, allows the light to play off of the copper while the giraffe weevils only reveal themselves to those who are paying close enough attention. And what a lovely surprise!
Copper & sterling silver charms, artfully etched with the silhouette of giraffe weevils, dangle from classic beaded sterling silver ear wires. Ear wires can also be substituted with leverbacks for a little extra — just ask!
These earrings are perfect for science teachers, gardeners, entomologists or entomology students — any insect lover who can appreciate the tiny magic of insects! After preparing the art for this design, I use an acid bath to etch the artwork deep into the copper cutouts. The copper cutouts and other sterling silver components are then prepped and soldered together. The fully assembled piece is polished, then hand patinated, then polished again to reveal that gorgeous, bright copper glow.
These are made-to-order, so please allow 1-2 weeks for completion!
