The hoops are gold filled (which means an actual layer of 14K on the outside that won't chip off!) and the insect charms are all shell back (hollow) brass stampings made from antique molds, so they have amazing details and maintain a light weight, despite their size. These insect charm earrings are 100% handcrafted in the USA! All of my brass components are hand soldered (never glued!) and each piece is lovingly hand polished &/or antiqued and then double-coated with an environmentally friendly sealant that preserves the finish. Beware of sellers who ship out raw brass which tarnishes very quickly and requires frequent hand polishing -- who has the time for that?! My brass pieces are low maintenance; just wear and enjoy! 🙌
