I'm writing this with hopeful optimism: After failing (twice!) at creating workable cicada legs for my next designs, I have now made a third set of legs — and I think the third time might be the charm!

Not so long ago, I heard a grown man pronounce the word cicada "chi-CAH-da".  That was a first.  There are certain "tells" when someone is not all that into bugs.  Not being able to pronounce (or even spell, apparently) the name of a fairly common one, I would say is probably one of them. That said, cicadas are one of my most favorite insects.  "Dog Day" cicadas, the big ones that come out every year here in NJ, produce my all-time, favorite sound on the face of the planet.  To me, it is the sound of swimming, and sunshine, and...

My left thumb is like my new Barbie.  But only in the sense that I get to change its outfit now with some frequency.  It has its gym outfit.  It has its work outfit.  And now it has loungwear!   Going back to the beginning of all of this, less than a year ago, my wrists and thumbs started bothering me.  It was just pops and clicks at first, but my left thumb really went for it at some point and started to add little flourishes of painful zings to go along with the sound effects.  And now I'm going...
